Recovery and a birthday
Friends came and visited over my birthday. Despite feeling good the day after the
accident I soon started to feel really sore. It made it more difficult to be
bright and bubbly when everything from my knee to my mouth was painful. However, the healing went very well and soon
the grazes on my face had healed and the scabs fell off.
We went out for dinner to Logan Brown and had a wonderful meal. They allowed me to take an aged bottle of Coleraine which was pronounced superb by Bev and our friends. I gave the Sommelier a taste and he was really chuffed about it.
I had a lovely evening but by the end of the day I was absolutely knackered and bed was a very welcome prospect.
The next day we went for a walk with I and K, visiting the National Library to view Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the suffragette petition and the Declaration of Independence. It is the second time I have been and there is so much to read and explore, I saw things I had not on my previous visit. Then we wandered along the waterfront with the aim of going to Te Papa but while we were having a coffee the rain came in. Instead we made our way home before we took I and K to the airport.
The weekend was spent having coffees with friends, cooking some nice meals and planning our packing for the three and a half weeks we are going to be away in the South Island.
On Sunday I walked to pick up my bike from its service and then rode to the Cable Car. I was a bit more cautious and it was also quite painful pedalling as the right knee was far from being healed being heavily bruised and raw. I do hope it comes right for our ride
